Kate recently completed her PhD at SOAS’s Department of Economics, in collaboration with the Centre for Maternal, Adolescent, Reproductive & Child Health (MARCH) at LSHTM. Her research investigated the interface between maternal employment, health and wellbeing for home-based workers in Turkey, looking at the qualitative differences in experiences of women across the spectrum of informal and formal employment types. She also holds an MSc in Political Economy of Development from SOAS and a BSc in Economics from the University of Exeter. She was a co-founder of the SOAS Feminist Economics Network and has hosted research and networking events in conjunction with the International Association for Feminist Economics, the Women’s Budget Group and How Women Work. She has taught at the undergraduate level at SOAS and participated in outreach events with sixth-form students.
