Richard is currently completing his PhD at the UCL Institute of Education. His research examines the politics of education reforms in Indonesia, focusing on the interaction between political institutions and educational interest groups, and how institutionalisation has influenced teacher policy reforms overtime.

His broader research interests include education governance, school reform in developing countries, and the application of large language models in policy research. He has over a decade of combined teaching experience in schools and universities. His work extends to research consultancies and funded projects commissioned by national and multinational agencies. Richard holds an MA in Comparative Education from UCL.
