Why Gender Justice Faces Resistance: Interview with Prof Sarah Hawkes & Prof Kent Buse

Global 50/50 Co-Founders and Co-CEOs, Prof Sarah Hawkes and Prof Kent Buse, appeared on the Malaysian television programme Consider This (Astro AWANI) to discuss the global rise of anti-gender movements and the importance of embedding gender justice into global health.

Drawing on our work in the Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health, they stressed that gender must be considered in global health policies and programmes to improve health outcomes for all.

They also spoke about Global 50/50’s evolving mission to expand beyond the global health sector and serve as a critical accountability mechanism in law, justice, and finance, encouraging institutions to adopt gender-just policies and drive lasting change.
