At a moment when the forces working against equality are organised, well-funded and operating at scale, we believe that convening the right people around the right questions is a necessity.
What we do
Measuring inequality is not enough to end it. The gender justice agenda is under coordinated attack – funding withdrawn, public commitments quietly deleted, the language of gender itself contested and erased. Defending and advancing it takes more than data: it takes narrative, alliance, and sustained pressure.
This is where Global 50/50 moves from generating evidence to driving change. We translate rigorous institutional analysis into accessible insight that shifts public debate. We document and expose the rollback of gender equality as it happens. And we convene the institutional leaders, funders and movement actors who can turn evidence into reform – doing for gender justice what no other organisation does at scale: turning a fragmented field into a coordinated one.
Why this matters now
Gender justice is not advancing on a steady upward path. In 2025, for the first time since our monitoring began in 2018, we recorded measurable regression on every core variable we track – alongside a deliberate, well-resourced campaign to reverse hard-won gains.
In this environment, independent evidence and a coordinated response are not optional.

Our three programmes follow this logic: we hold institutions to account for how they define, resource and lead on gender; we track how those choices shape gender and health outcomes; and we drive the movement that sustains the pressure, accountability and cross-sector expertise this demands – never more so than in a moment of rising opposition.
